Why Does This Kind of Attack Happen?
These attacks aren't personal. Bots crawl the web looking for security gaps. Once inside, they generate thousands of pages selling counterfeit goods or redirecting to shady sites. The goal? Borrow your site's SEO authority to boost theirs. For us, acting fast was critical to protect our partners' trust and the quality of our web development solutions.
Step 1: Diagnosis and Quarantine
Using Google Search Console, we identified the scale of the infection. The first emergency step was the temporary removal tool. It doesn't delete the code, but it immediately hides the pages from public view. It's a delicate operation we now build into our mobile and web technical expertise.

Step 2: Deep Cleanup and a Proper 404 Response
Hiding pages visually isn't enough. Google needs to understand these pages no longer exist. We configured our server to return a clean 404 for every spam URL. In parallel, we rebuilt a dynamic sitemap.xml, limiting Google's crawl to our official pages only. This same technical rigor is what we apply to every project in our portfolio.
